Students can participate in projects called Independent Studio“ which are the research programs about the new architectural concept based on the topic such as the Japanese society or city in the future. And also it is commissioned by outside parties, including local governments and private developers. Students learn the actual nature of architecture by experiencing projects- such as the planning of a campus or a joint project undertaken with the city of Yokohama-on the site in the real world, carried out under the initiative of a faculty member (i.e. professor, design assistant or associate professor) who is also an architect.
